Do you want to help animals? I love animals. All animals including cats, dogs, pigs, chickens, and even snakes. I may choose to admire the snakes from a distance, though, just in case. For as long as I remember, animal rights have been important to me. Our animals, whether that’s our cats or our ducks and chickens, are part of the family, and we treat them that way.

Shop With Your Heart and Help Animals
You might not already be aware of this but, most of the nearly 9 billion animals raised for meat, milk, and eggs in the US are suffering in inhumane factory farms.
And animals are not the only affected, as factory farms impact human health—they can be breeding grounds for dangerous pathogens and the antibiotics used to prevent disease create the potential for dangerous, drug-resistant bacteria to develop.
To fully harness the power of our collective purchases and demand better lives for farm animals, the Shop With Your Heart initiative gives consumers the resources to recognize, locate and demand meaningfully welfare-certified meat, eggs, and dairy products as well as plant-based alternatives.
Everyone who signs the pledge also gains access to an exclusive Shop With Your Heart Grocery List. This includes welfare-certified and widely available plant-based brands.

Ellen runs a small pet sitting business in southern Vermont. She has experience with a variety of small animals, dogs and cats. She has also cared for ducks, chickens and rabbits. Combined, she has over 20 years of experience in pet care and pet sitting.
I do not buy meat in grocery stores any more because of this. Our chickens and ducks are very spoiled.
Same here, Patty. It’s so important!
This is an absolutely fantastic initiative that I can wholeheartedly get behind! While I’m not vegan or vegetarian and probably never will be I prefer the meat and dairy I consume are humanely raised and given a good life; they’re giving their life to feed us the least we can do is treat them with the respect they deserve!
I agree, Kayla. It’s something that’s really important to me too.
Your day lillies are so beautiful. I love that shop with heart provides the resources for me to make better purchase decisions.
Thanks, Shelley!
