These homemade yogurt dog treats are so simple to make. And, your dog will definitely enjoy one on a hot summer day. Now, you can use homemade yogurt to make these dog treats.

But, it’s OK to use yogurt from the store as long as you carefully check the ingredients. Do not use sweetened yogurt that contains xylitol as it is deadly to dogs. Look for an unsweetened plain Greek yogurt.

Can you give your dog Greek yogurt?

Yes, as I mentioned, yogurt including Greek yogurt is good for dogs. But, please get plain Greek yogurt. Skip the fruit, candy, granola, and sweeteners. Your dog should not eat those things and some can be deadly.

What brand of yogurt can dogs eat?

It’s not so much about the brand of yogurt as what is in the yogurt. I trust Stoneyfield organic Greek yogurt that is plain and unsweetened. The ingredients are safe for both people and dogs. If you’re concerned, you can always make your own homemade yogurt. If your dog is chunky, it is possible to use non-fat plain Greek yogurt. Just check the ingredients carefully.

These frozen dog treats for summer are a great way for your dog to stay cool. Since dogs only sweat through their paw pads, it’s very easy for them to overheat. Here are a few tips for how to keep your dog cool in the summer.

Now I have had a couple of people ask me about peanut butter and dogs. Peanut butter is a great healthy ingredient for dogs to have in their treats.

But, like the yogurt you use, it’s very important that you look at the listed ingredients. Some kinds of butter contain xylitol which is toxic to dogs.

You need to read the ingredients list carefully and choose a peanut butter with no xylitol. The same is true if you are making applesauce dog treats, read the label.
