Removing Pet Stains from Carpet
As a pet mom to two cats, we have had to deal with our share of pet stains on carpets, blankets, and pet beds. It can be frustrating to deal with them because you don’t always find out about them as soon as they happen.
My cats seem to find the most out-of-the-way spaces to make a mess.
Removing pet stains from the carpet can be a challenge because you want something that’s powerful but safe enough to use around your pet. After all, your pet will be walking on, lying on, and rolling around on your carpet or bedding.
You don’t want to use anything toxic that might be dangerous to them or your family.
Remove the solids
The first step you need to make when removing pet stains from the carpet or other areas is to remove the solids. Once you’ve removed as much of the solid mess as you can with a paper towel, you can try to remove the rest with a pet cleaner.
Be sure that you don’t rub in the mess when you’re removing it. That will only make the stain worse. It’s best if you can deal with the mess as quickly as possible.
Stains that have set longer are more difficult to remove.
Soak the area
Most pet stain removers need time to work. Oxygen-based cleaners will lift stains away by helping to break down the molecules and remove them from carpet or bedding.
Give them time to work before rubbing the stain away. Keep pets and children away from the area while you’re cleaning.
Tough stains
After soaking, for tough stains, you can use a bristle brush to clean the area. If the stain isn’t completely removed, try soaking it again by repeating the step above.
Then, remove any solution and wipe away with a soft cloth.
