Motion activated cat toys are a fun way to get your older cat interested in being more active. As our cats get a bit older, their activity level drops. While this isn’t necessarily a problem in itself, it can lead to weight gain depending on the cat and how much they eat.

Motion Activated Cat Toys
Motion activated cat toys will help bring out your cat’s prey instinct. This will encourage them to hunt, swat, chase, and pounce, all of which will get them moving and off their cat bed. Of course, there are a lot of different types of cat toys to choose from so what should you be looking for?
Motion Activated Cat Toys With Batteries
Choosing motion activated cat toys with batteries is a great way to encourage your cat to get moving. They may not immediately get up off the couch when you introduce a new toy to them. But, if they see it wiggle and move and sparkle, it may just grab their interest. If you do choose movement activated toys that require batteries, please use rechargeables to limit waste in the landfill.
Realistic Motion Activated Cat Toys
I’m a fan of realistic cat toys because they mimic the types of behaviors in the wild that would get your cat moving. When cats act on their instincts, it’s been shown that they are less stressed, healthier, and more at ease in their environment.

This really is one of the best cat toys ever.

I love watching cats play with their toys. They usually just sit around (ours did anyway) and look rather bored to me! This weekend Petco is opening a new store in my neighborhood so hope to check it out. I’m not sure if they will have cat adoptions but dog adoptions are on the agenda for sometime this month. I still haven’t decided if I want to adopt a dog or cat so you know I read every one of your posts to help decide. No exotic pets though!
I’m definitely a cat person. They are more independent which works best for me.
